CELEBRATING NATIONAL NIGHT OUT IN DOLPHIN HEIGHTS

Dolphin Heights families and neighbors and children gathered together on a Hot evening  August 4, 2015 to celebrate a night out against crime in our community.

Our guest included our newly elected Council-Woman, Ms. Tiffani Young, district 7. And,  our Deputy Chief Michael Coleman of Southeast Division DPD.  All city, county, dfd  and district 100 community liaison, Kerry Goodwin for State Representative Eric Johnson.

There was fun for the children including a bounce house, and the playground was being used in full swing. Hotdogs with all the trimmings including the chili.

School supplies and backpacks were given to fifty plus children returning to pre-k to high-school.

LITTLE FREE LIBROS

IMG_4816100_7614100_7613 YES WE HAVE A LITTLE FREE LIBRARY COMING TO DOLPHIN HEIGHTS…

The afterschool students and volunteers designed their little library so  they could come  pick up a book to read even if “the belay house is closed”. they even requested  books to include such as science experiments, history, scary and of course dinosours:-) it will soon be ready for us.

RAINBOW JUNCTION SUMMER READING PROGRAM 2015

IMG_4757IMG_4764IMG_4751IMG_4638We opened for Summer Camp June 14, 2015. Twenty-one children ages 3 to 18 years of age registered for the program.  From 10: 00 am to 1:15 pm

Thanks to Equal Heart of Dallas supporting our program with breakfast and lunch each day three days per week, we were privileged to serve combined total of 836 meals.

The children and young adults read books, did science experiments, wrote and created their own stories and, did timed writing as teams and groups if it could get your curiosity we did it. They learned about the Texas indians and did group presentations.

To summarize the past two months: We the children were exposed to and participated in the following activities Book Reports, such as, Life cycle of Insects, dissection of flowers, learning about Native Americans, Fashioning a fish, Dino Diorama, Fizzy Fountain experiment, making your own Pizza dough, create your own story, Five nights of Freddie’S Trivia, learning to get along with others IMG_4685and Team Cherish VS TeamIMG_4682 Declan, and making your own Slime.

 

Dallas Police sponsored a crime and safety presentation, exploring the squad cars and learning new safety tips.

Kuddos to the Volunteers for making it a fun Summer experience for all the Youth, Thank You Ms Sharon, Ms Cherish, Ms Jerrica,Ms Nazli, Mr Alan, Mr Declan, Mr John, Mr Ladaryus, “I could not have done this without you”

“Creating a Children’s Garden”

On November 8, 2014 a bunch of student engineers from SMU, along with Dallas Community Court volunteers and volunteers from the community came together in harmony and created a garden for our children. Rainbow Junction Summer Reading Program 2013

We did it again. Summer 2013 was fun,educational and meeting new friends.

Summer 1&2 was filled with a curriculum of group reading monday thru Wednesday, each student then wrote a brief summary. group math classes, timed math tests on Wednesdays. Science and History sessions were also included. They learned about machines and legos along with their favorites Arts&Crafts.

Rainbow Junction Summer Reading Program 2012

For the past two months the students of this program have been reading, writing summaries and learning how to present a summary to an audience. Five hundred twenty six lunches were provided Monday thru Thursday, thanks to Citysquare!  Forty-nine children experienced a huge water slide actually climbing up and then sliding into lots of water. Today was a day of fun with hotdogs, chips and drinks for all, there was even a birthday not one but two why, because they are twins. Yes, we had cupcakes to!

Thanks to a long time volunteer, Alejandra Torres supporting the students and bringing"Rainbow Junction Summer Reading Elite" the water slide to them!!!
